Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Careeto uses and why. In short: your resume stays on your device, and we only see it for the moment it takes to run an AI feature you asked for.

What stays on your device

Everything you type into Careeto, your photo if you add one, and your settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. We don't receive or store a copy. Clearing your browser data deletes it. Your browser also keeps a sign-in token so you stay signed in.

Your account

To download a PDF or use AI, you create an account. We only collect what's needed to run it:

• Email sign-up: your email address and your password, which we store only as a salted, one-way hash. We email you a 6-digit code to confirm your address or reset your password.
• Google sign-in: your email address and Google's account ID for you. We don't receive your Google password, contacts or anything else from your Google account.
• Your plan: whether you've used your free download (and when), how many free AI uses you've used, and when your Pro pass ends.

We don't ask for your name, phone number or address.

What our server receives when you use Careeto

• When you use an AI feature (improve summary, improve bullet points, job match), the text of your resume, and the job ad if you pasted one, is sent to our server and passed to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the result. We don't store this text. Anthropic processes it under its commercial API terms, under which it doesn't use this data to train its models by default.
• Abuse protection: your IP address, used only in short-lived counters that limit how many requests or free downloads can come from one network. These counters delete themselves automatically within an hour, or within a month for free downloads.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and reseller of Careeto Pro. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details, email and billing address under its own privacy policy. Lemon Squeezy tells our server which account paid, so we can switch on Pro, and we receive order details (such as your email and what you bought) so we can provide support and refunds. We never see your card number.

Service providers

• Cloudflare: hosts the website and our server.
• Anthropic: runs the AI features.
• Resend: sends sign-up and password-reset codes by email.
• Google: provides "Sign in with Google", if you choose it.
• Lemon Squeezy: processes payments.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, we don't use advertising trackers on the website, and we don't build profiles about you.

Your choices

You can write and edit your resume without an account; it never leaves your device unless you use an AI feature. To delete your account and the data we hold about it, email us at support@careeto.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights to access, correct or delete your data, and you can contact us to use them.

Children

Careeto is meant for people aged 16 and over.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
